Why does my iPhone turn off when still got 70%

History

my iphone turns off with high battery life left, but i can put charger in for min then take it out and it will work for a bit taking battery % lower than previously turned off, any ideas how i csn fix it

John,

Typically this is a sign of a dead or dieing battery. When lithium chemistry batteries get old, their voltage will drop off very quickly under a load (where as normally they will hold a very steady voltage even under maximum rated loads). So when you turn your phone on, the voltage begins to drop quicker than normal and this causes an unexpected shut off.
