time machine cannot be erased.

History

I have not used my TM for a year. Would like to erase that partition and disk utility fails, says drive cannot be unmounted. How can i correct this prob. I'm not using TM and would like to reclaim that space.

Are you backing up to another partition on the same hard drive?

Hi, Hit this in terminal and then try again with disk utilities

sudo umount -f /Volume/username\ Backup
