recovery from being in water
BB Bold 9000 fell into pond, in for less than 5 seconds. still had display after it was out of water. turned off phone, removed battery, simm card. used canned air to blow out moisture, put in rice for 1 hour, reassembled and tried to turn on. no response, no light. put in freezer for 2 hours, wiped with cloth, canned air again. put dessicant pack in battery compartment ovenight. tried plugging into charge. got initial red light solid, then changed to blinking 3 times, short pause blinking 3 times. will not turn back on, no display.

ecat4m00, just a few things that come to my mind. You may have some corrosion on the logic board as well as under the IC's and other connectors. The freezer trick may even have loosened some components, if any water underneath the connections froze. I suggest that you follow this guide to clean your phone. Of course you found the teardown for the device already, use it as an idea how to disassemble your BB. After you are done, replace the battery with a new one and reevaluate to see what you got. Let us know how it is going, good luck.
Followed the cleaning instructions meticulously, no joy, battery will not take charge, new battery will not charge. with charge in battery, only get a steady red light when battery is installed, then reverts to 3-4 beeps every 15-20 seconds. priority is now to recover data on phone. Have IPD back files saved on PC but no way to open. suggestions needed to proceed, help?????????
Have you tried to open your back up with BlackBerry Desktop Software? Right click on your file and select open with and choose the BlackBerry Desktop Software. I believe that you can then export your file to a more common format. There are also a few commercially available piece of software out, like here http://www.amraksoftware.com/
