How to disconnect the keyboard cable from logic board?
Hi, I have a macbook pro which has some spill damage and couple of keys damaged by kids along with the glass of display. It has some key stuck on it too (I dont know which ones exactly as i cant go pass the log on screen), It boots but I cant put it in safe mode or put the password as the keys I need to press is broken too. At this moment i just want to see the extent of the damage as see if it is worth me fixing it or not. I just want to connect it with a USB keyboard and see how many components are not working. To do that I need to disable the Macbook Pro keyboard.
I want to know If it is safe to turn on the Macbook without the keyboard cable attached? it is then how can i do it.
Any help will be appreciated.
Regards
Syed

Plug in an external keyboard and restart, it should over ride the internal board and let you test your unit.
I tried but it doesnt over rides, both keyboard works same time and as the internal keyboard have some keys pressed permanently, I cant get into safe mode or anything.

mayer is ryt to check to over ride the internal keyboard . otherwise here is the link to remove the internal keyboard flex from logic board see the step 18 :
I have the Flex cable removed. but I think the power button is connected to keyboard as well... any chance of jump starting the macbook without the flex cable attached?
Syed,
I did and guess what? $800 for upper case and $1500 for display... cheaper to buy a new one.... such a waste...

Between the RAM and the speaker cable connector( the speaker that sits under the DVD drive) there are two contact points where it says PWR BTN. Connect these two points and it will do the same as pressing the external power button. If you have a external keyboard connected it means you have to open the bottom lid every time you wanna turn it on :)
