hasnt been charged in months now wont start up when on charger
I broke my power cord on my hp pavillion dv7 months ago and just now got a new cord. its been plugged in for about an hour now and still will not turn on. Im not sure if its the computer, the cord, or the battery? the light on the inlet is on and when I press the power button the charge light on the front blinks 3 times.

Most Pcs have whats called a "beep code" when it will not start properly. I believe thats what you are looking at, as it is not booting.
I tried the hard reset discribed on the page but still no luck. None of the leds are lighting up except for the one indicating that the ac adaptor is plugged in even when I press the power button

Answered
Try removing the battery and power cord, and pressing the power button to release excess static. Then try powering it on with ONLY the power cord--no battery. It's possible that the battery has drained past the point of usability (and will no longer hold a charge), but the computer is still trying to use it.
