How can I repair the home button?

History

The home button on my iPad wifi has become unresponsive, however I have been unable to find a part that would change the switch. I have read the repair guide but don't know which part I should buy to get a née home button switch.

This sounds like you could get it fixed for free if you contact Apple. I have seen a couple of iPads with unresponsive home buttons that Apple fixed for free even past the 1 year warranty. If you do not have any liquid spill try Apple first and let us know if you have success.

I've tried with Apple, but they declined my request for a repair, which now leaves me with the posted issue.

Is the button completely unresponsive? Try to put a thick piece of paper under the home button. That trick worked with my iPhone 4, maybe it can help you too.

I like to use Ebay for parts like that. Here's one I found. You could also try searching for an iPad Home Button Replacement and looking for the curcuit boards. Hope you find what you need!
