Why won't my iPod Touch be recognized by iTunes or my computer?
So I have a iPod Touch 1st Gen. & I connected the firewire charger to the computer and the iPod Touch made a 'beeping' sound and its charging but nothing happened on the screen and it's not showing on iTunes. I can't reinstall/updat
Plus, there's no other plugins where a firewire charger can be plugged in.. & my iPod Touch only works with a firewire charger soo.. Getting a USB cord won't do. /: Please help. > <

If your iPod touch only works with firewire, that could mean that you have a bad battery. Firewire is higher (8-30 volts) than the USB voltage of 5 volts nominal. You can use Firewire to charge only. It will only sync over USB. Check on here for a list of iPod compatibilities with firewire. Good Luck

It can only sync with USB. You can charge the 1st gen iPod touch with Firewire but that's it. What happened to the iPod that it stopped working with your USB cables? My instinct says that you need a new battery. When you connect your USB cable and your iPod does not respond, it is POSSIBLE that this is caused by a bad battery.
Yes you do. I definitely would start there. The price is really not that bad if you shop around on places like this The quality of course will not be as good as if you would by it on ifixit....;-)
