PowerBook does'nt turn on?

History

when i press the power button, i only hear the sound of the fan.and the light never goes out at the button where we use to open the laptop.what should be the problem.

Unplug the machine, remove the battery, hold the power button down for 10 seconds. Plug it back in and try starting without the battery.
