iPhone Black Screen water damage - makes noise when plugged in

History

I dropped my iphone 3GS in the water and now i can't see anything on screen. However, when I plug it into the wall it makes the charging noise. Also, when I apply pressure to the bottom right corner of the phone, a little water splotch appears on the screen. Would replacing the LCD fix this?

Thanks.

Dry that iPhone out, place it in a bag of uncooked white rice for several days.

Brad,

it was dropped several months ago

You could try and replace the Display Assembly. You are still hearing a sound which could be a good sign, but there is no way of really telling if the logic board is fully functional. If you have not already, I would take the display off and let it dry completely so there is no water left anywhere in the phone. The part you need is here. Again this would be a trial an error, not 100% positive. You could even try just the lcd, but the touch could be defective as well.

You could even try a hard reset by removing all the screws from the logic board and lifting it up from the base, to do this click here. Again I would do this when the phone is completely dry to avoid more damage.

Hope this helps.
