MacBook becomes very hot randomly

History

Hi to everyone,

I have not found suitable answers to my question, so I try to ask. Since a little bit of time my macbook white (4 Gb Ram, Snow Leopard inside) becomes very hot and shuts down when it reaches 85°. It had started playing YouTube videos and then it propagated to others applications such as Microsoft Office or even iTunes. Sometimes I do nothing at all and the temperature rise.

I don't understand if it is software related or not.

How long does it take for the computer to overheat and shut down? Can you hear the fan running? Have you replaced any internal components lately?

Take it all the way down and clean the heat sink and vents and replace the thermal paste on the heat sink, here how to get to it: Installing MacBook Core 2 Duo Heat Sink

Sounds like good advice. +
