How can I stress test, without extra soft-ware, the logic board/power supply on the above machines?
don't have original installation disk.

Call the Apple store with your computers data and they will sell you one for about $15.

Take your original system installation disk, insert it and restart holding down the "D" key. Run diagnostics.

I don't know if you still need this but you can hold down option and D to boot to internet based Apple Hardware Test. You do need OS X 10.7 and up I believe.
