iPhone 3GS cannot charge either usb or charger
Dear all,
I got a iphone 3gs, it works well before, 2 days ago I connected the iphone with itune and updated with IOS4.03, during the instalation, I got an incoming call, and after i finished call, it seems the iphone cannot be connected back with itune, and also cannot be charging anyway. Could anyone help me? The iphone is now running out of battery, and it will become an waste if cannot find solution to recharge battery.
P.S i have 2 iphone 3gs, 2 of them update at the same day, another one got problem of open app after update, but it can connect with computer and charging battery, thus, the cable, the itune software and charger are perfect well. for the one cannot charge, because cannot connect with itune, so i cannot restore the iphone, call the support team, they told the iphone might got stuff when updated,
Please help!!!!

kelly take a really good look in the USB dock, clean it, check for bent pins. then i'd try the usual troubleshooting for iphones... change cords/change usb ports/use powered hub. log in to computer as a new user/admin rights. uninstall and reinstall the most recent itunes. Try a different computer or mac. Otherwise you may need to change the dockconnector itself.
The other choice is to charge the phone that does work and then swap the motherboards over so that you have a known working battery and dock so that you can do the update and restore. the charging issue may be resolved with a proper update but possibly not.

This happened to my iphone 3g, as well. You can charge it but you have to plug it into the charger and then turn it off. It will charge when it is off. The issue I have is now, I have to send all contacts to my friend and then they will forward them to me once I get my new phone.... ugh! I researched it and the battery charge chip and the computer connection chip are the same and when it gets messed up, you cant connect to your computer and you cant charge the battery when it is on. I thought it was going to die then and there, but this really worked.... It has been this way for over a year - I just charge it at night.

I don't mean to be rude..but that's exactly what I've put 6 months ago. If you agree with advice/think it's good advice etc then feel free to "up" vote. If you think an answer is wrong/bad advice then vote it down. You can also click on " add comments" and add or ask for information, or write "I agree" or "you're wrong..this is why....x,y,z". Writing the same as someone else isn't really that helpful

This problem happened with my iphone also but to charge it i used my friends solar powered charger and it was charging perfectly but i still cant get connected to itune's either.
