3G Digitizer works in 3GS!?

History

I have a 3gs with a cracked digitizer and i had a spare 3g one so i tryed it in it and it worked. I thought they werent compatible? Is it safe to use in it? Every part of the screen works no problems at all

Technically they are compatible but, can be a pain using some applications unless you are up to date with software.

The proper 3GS also has fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating.

Strange, my 3g had totally different connection (digitiser) to that of my 3gs

both digitizer are different . you cannot put a 3g on 3gs and 3gs one on 3g both are totally differ .

For anyone else I would NOT attempt this. You can easily damage the connector on the board and then you are screwed. That connector is not an easy fix, trust me I know...

Whether it works or not isnt the issue, it was not made for the phone. A new digitizer is only 10-20 dollars. Don't skimp on a $300 phone.

im an apple specialist, iphone 3g and iphone 3gs have totally different digitzers, although they may seem the same and MAY even fit, they will slowly give problems and then your connectors will burn out

They are absolutly not compatable connector wise.

Hi I have had similar problem as you with 3GS, I bay standard 3gs digitizer for 3gs, but the connection was totally different from the digitizer placed on the phone. So now i have to wait delivery for the new 3g digitizer only and see what's will happened.
