I just replaced the keyboard on a MacBook Pro for a friend and the keys are reversed. The cap lock only works with the right bracket button and the control keys at the top, volume spaces, etc..., are working in the wrong order. Is there a fix for this other than a new keyboard?

It sounds like your ribbon cable is not properly seated,see picture here, sitting off kilter a little bit. Both of cables need to be in there straight and true. Sometimes they look like they should be good with out close inspection, but they are not. Also make sure the black flap that holds the cable in is flat and straight. Sometimes they want to bow out in the middle.

OK, I just replaced the keyboard with another new one and reset the ribbon cable with no result. The same issues are still occurring, this is driving me a bit nuts.

You haven't set the keyboard to Arabic or something like that? Ours isn't quite so bad but many of our keys seemed scrambled apart from letters and that was the problem...

Well it's set to english and it only effects the F1 to F12 keys and the Cap Lock key only works with the left bracket key.
