My iPhone wont work unless plugged in.

History

My daughter droped her ipone in wash. We put in warm area to dry and then in bag of rice for a total of 5 days. Plugged it in and was pleased to see all worked great. Unfortunately it doesnt work when unplugged. The battery shows charging but continuouly changes % of charge up, and down. She can use when plugged in now. It was less than a week old. IM HOPING A NEW BATTERY WILL FIX PROBLEM.

Sounds like a bad battery, but iFixit currently does not have any, so you'll have to look elsewhere. Just make sure it's a reputable vendor.

Whenever a Li-ion Battery gets water intrusion, the battery is a goner.... Lithium in its natural state is HIGHLY reactive to water, therefore, you loose ALL charge and ability to recharge..... Replace the battery.... (Aviation Electrician - USN)

(Look on Amazon....I get batteries for cheap there)
