x box 360 drive is not workin right

History

when i put a game in to my x box 360 it say that to play this disk put in to a xbox 360 and thats what i got it in to and befor i hit play on the main screen it say play dvd not game

Did you change your DVD drive or did anything happen to your xBox?

ya i had tred to put a diffrent one is cause the first one was not opening right buti got it openin right for now it will open and close right long as i got a disk in if there is no disk in then i got to open it all up and do it that way lol

Time for a new drive. If you check online or the previously pointed out question, it is possible just not as a straight switch. Good Luck.

It seems like you aren't using the original drive. Xbox 360 drives are "Married" to the console that they originaly came with, and replacing the whole drive will leave you unable to play Xbox 360 game disks. In order to fix this, you need to either fix the original drive using parts from a drive of the same model, or "re-marry" the drives, which is much more complicated. Either way, you need the original drive.

The drive laser may be getting weak. Luckily you can disassemble the unit and adjust the strength. You need to be careful, as the tolerable values vary based on what type of drive you have. What XBox 360 do you have and what kind of drive is installed?
