Why does my iBook intermittently suddenly shut off? (continued)

History

So we replaced the old DC-in board, and it seemed to solve the sudden shut off when the computer is plugged in; however, the computer still seems susceptible to shutting off when running on battery. Stats from Coconut Battery make me think that a new battery will solve what remains from my issue. Here's the current read:

Current battery charge: 971 mAh

Max battery charge: 1205 mAh

Current battery capacity: 1205 mAh

Original battery capacity: 4400 mAh

Battery-Loadcycles:880

Age of your Mac: 75 months

Charger connected: Yes

Battery is charging: Yes

This is a second problem this book had. It also had a bad DC-IN port that was solved: http://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/46885...

You never gave me the results of the Coconut battery till now. Your battery is only 27% of its original capacity. If it runs 20 to 30 minutes that would be about right. If you intend to keep your Book for several more years I would get a good replacement with a one years warranty.

But you can get a new one here: http://store.fastmac.com/advanced_search...

Thanks for all of your help - and patience! Apologies if I let bits and pieces of info out too slowly. I wasn't sure what would have been relevant at the time, so I thought I'd try my best not to confuse issues.

Your battery seems to be pretty old. A new one will probably solve your problem.

Thanks. I just didn't expect that battery age/wear would prevent the iBook from going to sleep properly when battery power goes low.
