How do I reset the logicboard

History

I know that there are 2 holes in the back of the bottom case by the power button that you must insert a bent paperclip. They are identified by a left facing triangle and a stylized waveform.

The question is Do you insert the clip in both holes or just one? Is thepower adapter or battery on or off? For how long?

Is there an old timer around who remembers this?

Thanks for considering my Question!

1. Shut down the computer.

2. Disconnect the AC adapter from the computer and remove the battery.

3. This step depends on the model:

PB 140, 145, 145B, 160, 165, 165c, 170, 180, and 180c

Let the unit sit without power for 3-5 minutes. Then, use two paper clips to simultaneously press and hold for approximately 30 seconds both recessed buttons (commonly known as the reset and interrupt buttons) located next to the power button on the back panel of the PowerBook.

Duo 200 & 2300 series

Press and hold the rear power button for 30-45 seconds.

PB 150

Push the reset button in the back of the unit with a paper clip and hold for 30 seconds.

PB 1400, 3400, and G3

Push the reset button in the back of the unit and hold for 1 minute.

4. Make sure the AC adapter is connected to a live AC outlet then connect the AC adapter to the back of the computer.

5. Turn the PowerBook on. (Note: on the PowerBook 150, push the reset button in back again, but just briefly. You should hear a small pop from the speaker and the computer may power on. If it does not power on, push the main power button in back.)

6. Insert the battery.
