Why is my display not coming on?
This morning I tried to use my g5 imac and when I tried to wake it the display was all pixellated and then just went black. My computer was still on but nothing was on the screen. I held the power button down to shut it down and restart it to see if that would resolve the problem but it didn't, the display is still black. The only other thing that is different is the circle light that is on when the computer is on doesn't light up anymore except when I first try to turn it back on. It lights up for a few seconds and then shuts off when the screen tries to come on. What is happening and how can I fix it? Is it my display or just the graphics card? There are no apple stores or people that work on macs where I live and I just need some help.
Thanks, Jesse

In this case the logic board needs to be replaced
Update
It isnt the video card or display or inverter. The 3rd LED never lit up that means you need a new logic board. But first, i would try pressing the SMU button (Below internal power button) just in case the system just needed a reset. You probably already resolved this issue, but im putting this here for anyone else who comes across this problem.

yes I connected it to my other mac via firewire and started it as a target. I was able to pull all of my info off of it because I don't know what is going to happen. I followed the troubleshooting guide from the apple site and found out that the third led light doesn't come on but the first two do. I understood that meant there is no signal being generated to the display. I think the only way to resolve that is get a new logic board. Any opinions on that conclusion or can I send it to someone to fix the graphic card on it?

I tried to connect it to another display and was unable to get it to work.
Jesse - you seem to have clicked on the "accept answer" link to your own posting. You might want to click on "Unaccept answer" so that it doesn't appear from the main page that your problem is already solved!
bac,
Do you have another display you can try booting to?
rab777hp,
If that's good your Video Card is ok, and your problem is either the inverter or display.
