SSD instead of optical drive

Hi. I have one question and yes - I have used google but have not found it. So, i would like to ask you if it is possible to have SSD instead of an optical drive or only second HDD. I know I have to use this: Unibody Laptop Dual Drive But I would like to use it with a SSD, not HDD. If you have some instructions or advices, tell me. Thank you :)

Yes that is fine, as long as it's a 9.5mm thick 2.5in SATA SSD it'll be the same as an HDD.

Are you sure? Because I have read that you must have your optical drive in system profiler in serial-ata and I can't see it. I just have to know that you are 100% sure. Btw which SSD do you recommend?

Yes, an SSD for all intents and purposes is on the outside basically the same as an HDD, uses same interfaces, etc.. If you don't want to spend too much money, this 80GB one is pretty good. IF you really want to spend a lot of money check out this one, for 250GB. Another option you may also want to consider is a hybrid drive, which has both an SSD and an HDD, putting on the SSD what you use more often, thus combining the speed of an SSD with the capacity of an HDD. You can get a good one here. It all depends on your budget and needs.

Fine, thank you. Do you know any step-by-step guide for this Macbook what should I do and what I need to replace it with SSD? And should I wait for TRIM support in 10.7 or not? Which SSD do you think will be supported by Apple (TRIM)?

by

Use this guide and I wouldn't worry about waiting for 10.7, all these drives are commonly used in Macs.

There is only the guide how to remove optical drive, but there is not the second part how to fit SSD into optical bay enclosure, which is important too. I don't really know, which cables should I buy if ever too. Thanks.
