Why will it not turn on?
It does not turn on nor will the computer read it when it is plugged in to USB port

David Schorejs, this could turn out to be a guessing game. The first thing I would do before anything else, clean the dock connector, look for any bend or broken pins. Check your USB cable for the same. Replace the battery of your iPod and then reevaluate. Good Luck and let us know.
