navigation doesn't work

History

i can boot the system. listen to the current file and go back and forth through the list but i can't navigate through the menus..? as if the center button or right and left buttons on the click-wheel don't respond?

any ideas?

Sounds like the clickwheel's dead. With the 4th gen iPod, you'll need to replace the entire front panel. Here's the guide.

maybe its not the clickweel that is broke but the lock /hold switch. that sometimes happens and the iPod seems to be not responsive at all. try to move the hold switch back and forth a couple of times.
