Click wheel doesn't work after headphone jack replacement

After, to all appearances, successfully swapping out my headphone jack (according to this page: iPod 5th Generation (Video) Headphone Jack & Hold Switch Replacement), my click wheel doesn't respond at all (it was working fine before). The iPod powers on and brings up the main menu normally, and the display brightens when the hold switch is toggled, but nothing else responds. Did I dislodge something in the face? Thoughts?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

The funny thing is that the iPod still powers on when I press Menu, and it resets successfully by toggling hold switch/holding down Menu and the center button. But nothing else works, I'm stuck at the main menu.

Yeah i'd open it up and see if you left anything disconnected/askew.
