Could I fix a power adapter socket on the logic board?
I took apart my powerbook g4 15" HR (A1138) for the first time when I was having problems with a very noisy right fan. When I put my logic board back in, I wasn't exactly gentile. I broke the power adapter socket on the left part of the board. One of the prongs is missing and the others are out of place so you can't put the plug in. How could I replace this socket and where would I get the parts?

It can most likely be fixed but first I need to know exactly which book you have. Would you give the last three letters of your serial number (located in the battery compartment)? Then I can direct you to the correct repair guide so you can identify which part you may have broken. Would you tell us what it's doing or not doing and why you think it's broken?
HUC are the last 3 digits of the serial number on back of the battery) It is a Powerbook Aluminum G4 15" HR (A1138) It is the little socket under the logic board that the little black and red wire plug plugs into. heres a picture. Step 16! (http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Insta...) The tiny prongs inside the socket are broken and the plug will not plug into it. Other than that, I put it back together, turned it on and it works fine. Everything seems good (even went on the internet). Only problem is that it wont power through the adapter or charge the battery and its now only running through the battery. Thanks!

That really shouldn't be a difficult repair for an experienced tech. He wouldn't even have to be a Mac tech. If you do the assembly I wouldn't think the charge would be more than $20. I would not trust it to a kid.
