A logic board, 2 inverters and 2 LCDs later... still no worky

First, the original monitor had occaisonal problems, fixed sometimes fiddling with the screen on the hinges. Then, the logic board died, on account of the video card, replaced free by Apple.

It worked fine for a few hours, then the screen died having colors flow over the screen (while the external output works) and I bought and changed the inverter, same issue.

Then bought new LCD, it was totally white, thought it was DOA. But now the seller has sent me another, with same problem. Once the OS loads I am able to adjust the brightness fine, but can't see anything. I was thinking that the only thing left would be the data cable, does that make any sense? I'd appreciate your input.

I've been waiting to fix this computer for about two months!! arrgg.

I would have sent it back to Apple if it only worked for a few hours. I would replace the display data cable since moving the screen helped. All of the LCDs have probably been good.

I tried bringing it back to the Apple store but they did some tests and said this time it was the display that was faulty. Ok, will try the data cable, thanks. I'll come back and comment after...

If your machine only worked for a few hours after Apple had just replaced the logic board, I would take it back and ask fir a warranty EXCEPTION. The bad GPU probably place an undue load on the LCD and destroyed it. I know if this happened to one of my customers, I WOULD FEEL OBLIGATED TO DO SOMETHING.

I'd agree with Mayer. Apple need happy customers, they have done work which may have caused damage, therefore they should rectify the problem. Be firm and don't take mo for an answer!

mayer sounds gives you absolutely reasonable advice. Especially since it "only worked a few hours" I'd go back and truly demand to have this rectified. Best of luck to you and I hope that you get your computer fixed soon.

I appreciate the advice, but it was already taken back and they refused to service it again. Although I don't think she (I wasn't there) argued the point much.

So I've replaced the data display cable, and now there is nothing, the screen doesn't even light up. I fear I may have squished the inverter cable... any further advice on the hardware end? I'm coming to my wits' end on this.

When the motherboard fails in the graphics regain, alien objects appear on the screen, I've seen red and blue lines following windows even yellow checker boards, desplayed. I would say that the logic board is the problem.

i would bring it back to apple and it doesn't surprise me that when u plug a new screen via dongle that it works

I dont think it is that data cable and the inverter board, no way, but i think the other screens are fine
