iPhone 3 GS wet with milk and not on

My 3GS 32 GB vibrated and then I noticed there was small amt of milk on the phone. The phone keeps vibrating while screen is black and feel a little heat of the unit. I pressed "home" several times and then saw screen back on with Apple Logo.A few seconds later, the screen black again after I press "home". It repeated two times. In the second time I noticed 5% battery level. Eventually vibration stopped by it own (may be run out of battery).

No sign of life when connected with wall outlet. With USB, it showed "found new device on PC" and then Itune logo appears with "in recovery mode,.. restore" but still not sign on iphone. BLACK.

While open the unit I noticed there was a spot at right edge of the logic board covered with yellowish stuff similar to the leak from a regular old battery.

A little white milk at low left corner of the screen was seen.

The phone has been in this way for three days.

It battery damaged? or motherboard issue?

vibrator issue? connector assembly issue?

Any idea what might happened and how to do with it.

Thank you very much.

I would treat it as a liquid damaged phone, carefully remove all parts and clean with distilled water and dish soap, COMPLETELY. Let dry for about 3 days, then reassemble.

i wouldn't recommend soap-it will leave a residue..

completely rinse with distilled water, it doesnt leave residue

I am avoiding the water for one primary reason: I don't know if there are any components that can capture and hold on to the water. Using alcohol is more effective than distilled water because not only does it displace the water and sediments, it also evaporates faster with less residue, but ultimately whatever works for each one of us. :)

Go ahead and disassemble your phone remove the battery (get a new one while you are at it) I clean my logic boards with isopropyl alcohol since it does displace water and have less trouble with corrosion after. Let it dry for a at least a couple of days. After you are sure that it is dry, check further for corrosion and/or debris, assemble your phone with a new battery and see what does and does not work. Most of the immersion cause 1. battery failure 2. LCD failure 3. Logic board failure.Proceed one step at a time so you only replace the parts that need replacing and will not run into to many issues at once. Good luck with your task and let us know what happened.
