MacBook will not boot but will charge

History

I few days ago my macbook stopped turning on. When I hit the power button I get absolutely no response. Nothing from the LEDs, no fans, the harddrive does nothing in short the thing is completely unresponsive. The odd thing about this is that the battery is fine and the charger light comes on. I'm hoping it's just the power button, in which case I could just replace the upper case. Is there a way to test this? Could I remove the upper case and short the thing on? Or does this sound like a logic board issue? Thanks in advance.
