Thank you, Chris Green for your recommendation, however it did not fix the problem.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend opening it again, and loosening the heatsink screws, then re-tightening them evenly, that should do it.

Old question, but I need to make some things clear for someone who doesn’t know better. These Xboxes cannot be repaired and are eternally prone to this issue. And no, reflowing will not help; it delays the unavoidable permanent failures. Now yes, it may help as a way to pull saves on Arcade editions but for everyone with hard drives it's not worth your time.

The problem is the balls under the actual chip die fail, rather than the ones on the board - you are reflowing the underfilled balls and not the motherboard itself. Do yourself a favor and remove the hard drive from the fat 360 enclosure so you can convert it to a S/E drive and get a replacement that’s actually going to last.

you can do it your self , heat gun and repair x and remember to use the grease under the cpu , the heat gun is like when the xbox is turned on , they heat up thats why the heat gun works , reflow the solder joints , ytube will show you the area to work on , it works

Zack,

The rrod repair kit is not doing it for you because your motherboard has probably succumbed to the flexing. You should get a reflow done by a professional with a real reflow station + preheater.

Avoid the people who use heatgun + hot plate/griddle.

The xbox I have from a total over heat and could not turn on and play. The xbox is still working with no problems .its a 50 50 shot that the balling of the chip or the heatsink has a problem with the solder joints you have to start somewhere the culprit is overheating and that's why I got a new x plate and bolts and paste
