External drive enclosure for MacBook internal optical drive?

History

Is there an external drive adapter that will work with the internal optical drive from a MacBook when I replace it with the "9.5 mm Optical Bay SATA Hard Drive Enclosure"? The drive still works. I have one of those testbed USB adapters that will probably work, but I would prefer a stand alone enclosure. Thanks!

I'd rather discard (maybe sell) the original slot-in drive and go for a standart usb external optical. The ultra slim drives in the MacBooks aren't very good and if you really need an OD youre better off with on off the shelf. I have a LG external that works wonderful.

Thanks, I was thinking that, but I hate to waste anything that still works. ;-)

MCE Tech sells cool caddies that allow you to put HDD or SDD instead of your optical drive inside of your laptop.

Looks like they include free enclosure that you're looking for.

Yes there are several options! The one I found cool is the following:

Easy to set, thin enough and cool looking!
