"mac-boot", "shut-down"? what to do

History

when i open my mac, it keeps saying "mac-boot" or "shut-down". i type mac-boot, it does its thing, shuts down. i open it again, it says the same thing, "mac-boot". this happened only after i opened my battery to check the airport card cause my mac said the airport card wasn't installed

It looks like it's booting in to openfirmware by default. Try resetting the PRAM. When you turn it on, hold "Command+Option+P+R" (All 4 Keys At Once) right after it makes the startup noise, and keep holding them until you hear it again.
