Problems reading memory card

History

My PSP 3000 fell on the ground. As a result the system cannot read memory stick Pro Duo. I tried several Memory Stick PRO DUO, but the system keeps saying " There is no memory stick inserted". Also the Memory stick LED keeps blinking countinously.

Please help

Thank you

Dario

May be a false memory. I used to be Recommend buy a new memory to see. if it 's not work. May be a Memory card reader inside psp. http://www.excellenttoday.com/

After making sure that your problem is located in the psp and not the memory card, this is what i would try first. The problem might simply come from the fact that with allot of use, the pins inside the reader don't touch properly the connection contacts from your cards anymore. So see if they line up okay and make good contact. At least that's what happened to me, and I believe allot of people had the same problem... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qHyKPdoQ...

i had problems too, my psp wasnt reading the memory stick either and what i just did was play around with. i finally figured it out i just pushed the memory stick far as it can go and it was reading and when i let it go it stopped reading it so i found some tools to make it stay and it was a toothpick and now its reading the memory stick. if u dont get what im saying please respond back.

i shoved the toothpick in so its like stuck thats what i meant.

If you can remove the Memory Stick try plugging into a P.C. if you have a Card Reader. If P.C. recognises it but says that it needs to format the card. It is typical case of corrupted Zero sector. Run a checkdisk on it through the Command Prompt.

If not sure how to do one, follow these quick steps.

Press Windows Key and "R" together.

type "cmd" and press enter.

Make sure you know disk letter, example P: drive.

type the following.

chkdsk p: /f/r

Press enter and agree to whatever it prompts you with. If will perform 5 passes over disk (Memory Stick) and repair any errors. Once finished it will display whether or not it found any errors.

Plug back into PSP and see what happens. It should work again.

Hopefully P.C. does not say the Format thing and you can access all files. If this is the case then you have damaged the internals of your device.

Deano, excellent answer and it would definitely be a good check for a single memory stick. The original question says " I tried several Memory Stick PRO DUO" therefore, the deduction was made that it is the card reader.

I had that problem and solved it after a really frustration. All I did was formatting my memory via USP port with NTFS file form,it's going to take a min or less ,then u'll see a message saying that format is complete. Then you need to unplug your PSP from the USP port and format it once again in << System Settings >> then it will work fine.If u have a problem find me in my Youtube: Xemnes90 ...Good Luck...
