cant find repair guide on site

can you link this to me - i think it is either a dead battery or a bad board - it seems to be stuck in recovery mode if linked to itunes - other than that it will not even turn on....

Can it hold a charge?

Try holding down the home button while plugging it in this will bring it into DFU mode not Recovery and you might be able to restore. I doubt this problem is harware related as I have seen this problem solved many times by software means.

Ok so i did what u told me to do and that was to hold the home button and is said the same thing. it said ipod in recovery mode must restore then i tried restoring it and it said unknown problem occcured . do u have any suggestions.

Yeah, what liam speirs suggested probably would have done nothing, follow Ben Eisenman's advice.
