Replaced battery and harddrive but still gives sad face and reboots.
Even after replacing the harddrive and the battery it (5th gen iPod) still goes through the reboot cycle with the light grey apple then on to the sad face, the only thing left is the motherboard but am reluctant to replace since they are 70 dollars, but if needed will replace that also.
Need ideas or help.

Update
I have done some minor cleaning with a toothbrush and while doing so didn't seem to see anything that looked burned, but will clean alittle bit better to see if this helps. If not, then I will get the logic board.
Thanx for all the help.
Is this a good question?

I thought about HD cable as well, maybe that should be next item to replace. And to answer your question about iTunes recognizing it, no. Just to add a side note as well, when it reboots it goes to the Please Wait, Very Low Battery screen for a little while then reboots again. Seems that it may just need a charge but can't seem to get it to charge either.
