never boots/sounds like it's constantly powering on and off
Really that's it...just keeps making the whirling sound like it's booting up, then the little click like when it's shutting down and just keeps going on and on until the battery dies.
Apple wants $165 to fix.
So, it's a 5th gen, 60 gig, video, white, my baby....
Help!

Sounds like a hard drive. See if you can get it into disk mode,
Hold menu+play/pause as it's starting up
If that doesn't work, you know that the iPod can't see the hard drive.
If you can't do disk mode, try holding menu+skip backwards to see if you can get into diagnostics mode. If you can, your motherboard is most likely not dead.
Huzzah! This means you simply need a new 60GB drive.
