No USB Connection after I broke little SMD element near connector #4!

History

I can neither charge the iPhone nor connect it to iTunes. Nothing happens when the phone is connected to a USB/charging cable. If the iPhone is off, connecting a cable turn it on.

It seems I broke a little SMD element near connector4 of the logic board when I disconnected this connector with a screwdriver!!!

Does anybody know what type of SMD element that is and where I can buy it? It is so little that I lost it on my table and never find that part again!

See picture:

Update

I am having this problem, but I just checked my board and that SMD looks perfectly intact. What else could be? The connector 4 is firmly attached as well...

If you still have the mentioned SMD coil and your iPhone starts up when connected with usb charger it's another problem. Start you own question! The coil filters the USB data lines. Maybe your line is broken on another point?

I found an answer myself:

This element is coil!

Connect like this:

It was the "NOISE FILTER COM MODE 90 OHM SMD" -> Digikey part number: P14216CT-ND. http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f631/iph... - Data Sheet here: http://industrial.panasonic.com/www-data... (Common mode Noise Filters, Noise reduction of high-speed data lines such as USB, LVDS, and HDMI lines)

HI!

I'm having the same problem you are and i just re-opened my phone and it looks like i did the same thing to that capacitor by connector 4. Can you explain to me with a little more detail how to fix this? Do i need to soder back on? Please help i'm sooo desperate!!!!

Thank You so much!!

All infos are given in the "Accepted Answer"! If you still have that element solder it back (not very easy) or by it. If you don't have it you can short the points like shown here: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f631/iph... Here is a pic of the finished connection (again only for pros in soldering!): http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/6676503-...

James Bond,

Well i ordered the pasts from digikey! I'll either have to learm soldering really fast of find someone to do it for me lol. Thankyou so much tho!! I cant believe an answer to this problem is in sight!

Garrett Martin,

did it worked after the conection in the picture ?

Look into the Datasheet of that Chip: http://industrial.panasonic.com/www-data... - and see what is inside the chip. Only to wires from left to right...

Thanks for the tip, James! I've started my own question now. I'm new to this forum and it can be quite tricky. I've posted it here, but no one replied yet.
