HDMI Failure, A/V Interference

History

My PS3 up and stopped outputting to HDMI one day with no explanation. Ive tried multiple cables, I tried hooking it up to my HDMI monitor, and another tv with no luck. I then started using the A/V until I could figure it out, but it had a slight buzzing sound behind it that eventually got so bad it was unbearable, and the video was tracking like an old VCR.

I expect an unexplained power surge as the HDMI ports on my tv no longer work either, as I had the cable company come out and swap my HD cable box with 3 or 4 different boxes with no HD resulting.

Ive yet to get any definitive answer as to if it can be fixed and what is involved if it can be. Its been about a year since i messed with it because information has been short up until recently.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Judging by the lack of responses, this is looking grim. May have to give up my backwards compat and buy a slim :*(

This doesn't sound like your problem but I'll mention it because it's not always known.

The PS3 has to toggle between standard A/V and HDMI. If you switch between them it may not output the correct format.

If you hold the power for like 5-6 seconds it will beep a second time. This resets the default output and should choose the correct format.

I had a storm one night. The satelitte dish was hit and went down the line to which my DVR and my PS3 were hooked up. To make a long story short, I thought the HDMI ports on my TV were shot but come to find out, all three ports are fine. The roku works, but the DVR and PS3 do not. I hooked up the PS3 to another TV in the house and voila, the PS3 is the one with the HDMI board shot. How can I replace this for little expense? I know the PS3 itself works because when it is plugged in, the light is on and the wi-fi light is on. And....actually, I had not been on the system for over 6 months and never receive emails. However, I just received email from Play Station Network on Tuesday after trying to see if the PS3 worked on Sunday. I believe the machine communicates through Wi-fi but I am unable to see visual on my TV because the HDMI is blown from the storm. I miss my PS3.
