iPhone 4 seems to get no power from battery.
My new, 32GB iPhone 4 suddenly went dead this afternoon. I have been using it without any problems for the last two weeks without dropping it or doing any other harm to it.
When I connect it to iTunes, it does not recognize the phone, indicating that it does not get any power from the battery.
When tapping the phone gently with my finger, it produces a rattling sound, as if something has come loose inside of it.
Does anyone here have a clue about what the problem could be and if it can be easily fixed? I ordered the iPhone in the UK Store while living in The Netherlands, so sending it back all the way to Apple will probably cause an even bigger head ache.

where are you at the moment? if in US, just pop in into any apple store. they should swap it for you free off charge...
I am in The Netherlands. Bought an iPhone without SIMlock in the UK online Apple Store because I do not want to be stuck with T-Mobile here in The Netherlands. So all-in-all a complicated matter when it comes to returning it I'm afraid.

having an issue here too... gently tapping sounds like something around the headphone jack is loose. This one is only 5 months old. Never seen water, has had a case and never dropped or abused in any way.
really ^#%*&!.. i used it, put it in my pocket for about an hour.. took it out and it was a BRICK! Taking it back to the Bell store today. My videos.. pictures and music, how about transfer to a new phone.. how long for that! Replace in the store.. ok then there is the games and apps, and the time to wait for the phone to be sent away and fixed, but it's only 5 months old, so why not just replace? LIKE I SAID how about the apps.. videos.. pictures.. music.. games.. WTF!! I'm so mad right now!!! I havn't sync'd for soo long!

Hi all, I changed the screen assy for a friend and using the excellent teardown instructions, successfully removed the smashed screen and installed the new screen and reassembled the phone - easy. Or so I thought. Phone would not power up. So disassembled the phone to check all the connectors were correctly installed and to my horror, found the battery connector had detached from the motherboard. Pressing the connector on to the 4 tiny soldered joints, the phone powered up. I have nothing small enough to effect a permanant repair so I improvised by sticking a small piece of foam to the back of the connector assy and replaced the back panel with the hope that the pressure would be enough to make a continuous contact. It worked. But this is a serious problem and I see others falling into the same pitfall when either removing or reinstating the connector. To much pressure and hey presto, dead Iphone. Hope this helps
