Is the Hitachi or Western Digital a better drive?

Can a second harddrive be added rather than increasing the size of the original?

Is the Hitachi or Western Digital drives of equal quality or is one considered better?

I like the Western Digitals. A second drive can be installed by removing the optical drive and putting in an optical bay hard drive enclosure: 12.7 mm Optical Bay SATA Hard Drive Enclosure

I too prefer WD +

I have not used WD as of yet, but I have had great luck with Hitachi drives. I've had mine for over a year and haven't had as much as an error from the drive. If you Google Hitachi drives, you will see positive reviews and comments from many people concerning these drives. I read posts of people having these drives for over three years with no signs of problems. I recently upgraded to a 7200RPM Hitachi drive and I love it. It's nearly silent, no vibration, and my Macbook's temp has not risen. Just my opinion, I haven't tried WD drives yet, but I I'm happy with both Hitachi drives I have. Do some research before buying.

+ My opinion of the Hitachi drives has been formed over years. I admit I have seen a lot more of the 2.5" drives fail than the 3.5".
