Why do I get "disk could not be read from or to"?

History

I cannot sync my 30GB iPod. It will try to sync and then give the message "disk could not be read from or written to"

First try restoring it, here's how: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414

If that fails you will probably need to replace the hard drive. Here's how: Installing iPod 4th Generation or Photo Hard Drive
