How to check if 2005 Kia Rio base model cooling fan works?

My cooling fan does not seem to run. The car is running and at temp but the fan is not running. How can I tell if it is the fan or a fuss? How can I test the fan?

Rick, you usually check the radiator fan by disconnecting the coolant temp sensor and see if cooling fans come on. Your Kia's engine will have to be running , the sensors are usually connected to the thermostat housing. Check fuse #4 in the engine compartment fuse box, that is the one for your cooling fan. You also want to check the fan relay. the fan relay is in position #37 in your fuse panel

Here is the wiring diagram for the cooling fan circuit.

Use a paper clip to jump from the #30 to the #87 socket of the relay then turn the key and the AC on. If the fan comes on you know it is good, but if it does not, use a testlight at the fan connector and see if you have power. If you do, then you know your fan is bad.
