This was VERY helpful....!

Not being Tec savvy at all the thought of disassembling the Ipod was daunting ....and paying someone to open it to find the problem was not appealing ......

I took your advice and used a very thin needle and] it WAS lint....Didn't look like much but it was preventing the plug from going all the way in.

You made my day.

Thank You

This worked for me too! I used the end of a paperclip and did a small scraping motion and then a pull-back and sweep! And ta-da! Tiniest belly button lint came out!

I am amazed but this worked for me too. I didn't see anything at all in the hole but I used a toothpick and just scraped it back and forth and all around and %#*@ if it didn't work!!! No one is more stunned than me!!

Thanks for the advice toothpick worked a treat

Same problem. Cleaned it out with a very thin screw driver. It's working. Thanks.

Check inside the audio jack with a flashlight. There may be a piece of lint or part of the plug from the last earphones you used stuck in there. Use a sewing needle or a very thin pair of tweezers to remove any foreign objects. If it doesn't work, the iPod will have to be disassembled and have the audio jack cleared out that way

Oh my god my ipod has been sitting in my drawer broken for like 2 years now. I just so happened to take it out, wonder if it was really lost, and stumbled upon this. It actually worked and I now have an ipod again. Thank you!!

Thank you SO much, I nearly had a heart attack trying to fix it and there were tiny particles in there. I found that lightly using a tooth pick also helps. You were so helpful.

Thanks! I had pocket lint in my iPod. Got a jewelers screw driver, pulled it out, and voila. It is working again.
