Can I replace the dvdrom with a dvd r/w?

History

I have a dead Compaq laptop (P.O.S.) which has a HP Super Multi DVD Rewriter (GSA-T20L) in it and I wondered if it is possible to put that thing in either my Mini or my old G4 Powerbook DVI. Or mayeb in an external case?

I have lots of parts from this thing, including a nice 15" lcd. Can those be used as a "normal" monitor, if I had a stand for it?

I'd go the external enclosure on the DVD, that way you can use it with both. Here'a another guy that did it with your drive: http://blog.eletroniclife.com/2010/01/tr...
