Life, but no iPod!

History

My iPod will sort of light up, it just always says do not disconnect, and there appears to be nothing going on... what should I do? I do not even know how to open it up, let alone what to do once in there. Please, I would forever worship whoever can help me!

ohh my gosh, it appears to be working, man i feel like a foool!!! I called up the apple people and they said it was all over! I love you both! TOuch wood, something is happening!

kat,

never trust someone who works at a bar and calls himself a genius, and by the way - never make an appointment when you go into a bar ;-)

does the iPod shows up in itunes ?

click on the eject sign - any change on the iPod screen ?

if not, try the hard reset, press and hold the menu and select button at the same time until the iPod restarts, while booting up - unplug it from the computer.

i hope this helps

Dang, you beat me to it :P

David Hodson,

The first thing to try is reseting your iPod. Hold the Menu and Select (center of the click wheel) buttons simultaneously for about 6-10 seconds. The apple logo should appear for a while, and after a little bit it should go to your iPod's main screen.

In general, Apple has 5 R's for troubleshooting your iPod:

Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, and Restore.

For more info, here is Apple's troubleshooting page, as well as [[iPod 5th Generation (Video) Troubleshooting|iFixit's troubleshooting page]].

You may have a drink tooo....LEgends!

kat,

And we can talk about the World Cup :P

David Hodson,

I don't think that it might be the best topic you could have those days (i know i'm mean)
