Apple Logo only - can enter disk mode, diagnostics seem ok.

History

iPod was off for 2+ years. Wasn't working properly when last used (songs not playing, etc.).

Found this site and decided to try and troubleshoot the problem. iPod was originally not even turning on. I did a hard reset and then was able to put the iPod into drive mode. iPod shows in Windows Explorer but cannot be opened. iPod did appear in iTunes - iTunes suggested a restore but that doesn't seem to have accomplished anything. iPod no longer appears in iTunes, no longer boots past Apple logo. Ran diagnostic test - all checked out ok.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

It may just need a restore at a low level

higher level is part replacement which MAY NOT BE WORTH IT in the end

if its parts related,my advice is sell it as-is for parts/repair

I was able to do a restore (which seemed to take forever). It appears to have been completed - the unit rebooted (saw the status bar) and then went back to the Apple Logo.
