Why is the replacement battery draining so quickly?

History

I just installed iFixIt's replacement iPhone 3G battery and it seems to have drained awefully quickly. (No, I don't have any background apps or emails going). It seemed to lose 1% battery life every ~30-60 seconds for a while

new or used?

... or if the replacement battery is getting warm/hot during this discharge, something on the logic board could be shorted and is causing the battery to drain.

Sounds like you received a bad battery, you should contact iFixit and get them to send you a new one.
