Battery issue after screen replacement on iPod touch 4?

Hello,

I just replaced the screen on an ipod touch 4. I made the mistake of it getting powered on while connecting or disconnecting the lcd and digitizer. For the life of me, I cannot get it to respond to itunes, charging in with the wall charger, or putting it in dfu or recovery mode. Nothing works. I have tried grounding the battery from another post on ifixit many times with no luck. I do recall the ipod getting warm at one point while the screen was off and after that (I believe) the problem occurred.

I do however have another ipod touch 4 laying around that does take a charge. With a multimeter, that battery jumps right up when plugged in but the one I am working on, the needle moves slightly and drops to Almost 0, plugged in and not plugged in.

Anyone have any experience with this? Can the battery go when doing a screen replacement? Or is it something else?
