Computer won't recognise iPod nano

Hi, i'm having issues with my ipod nano (3rd gen) not being recognised by my computer and itunes once plugged in, it is not even displaying the charging symbol it does nothing.

It is not the USB cord because i have plugged an iphone into it and it works fine, i have reset the ipod numerous times (menu + select until apple logo appears), i tried changing the usb port, ive uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 6 times, i have gone into the windows device manager and the Apple USB driver is not even listed in there, i have unchecked the "turn off power when not in use" box in the USB root hub properties box.

The ipod works perfectly fine and charges when plugged into the wall mount but when plugged into the computer, absolutely nothing!

I desperately need to update my music!!

Any suggestions would be fantastic!!!
