Only right side of touchscreen working after home button replacement

After following the steps to replace my home button (and battery while I was in there), now only the right side of the screen is responsive to my touch. Not even right of center, just the far right edge. What could be the problem?

Hi there make sure you have the digitizer cable seeded correctly if it is and touch is still not responsive then you have damaged the cable and will require a new screen.

!@#$. I really wish I had read the instructions so I wouldn't have even attempted the repair and just lived with a dead home button. Now I get to spend another $75 for a phone that's barely hanging on as it is :/
