MacBook Pro Not Charging, battery draining while plugged in.

So recently my Macbook Pro 13inch, 2.8ghz, 2011 decided to go for a swim. During that swim I fried my power connectors and battery. After properly drying and cleaning the boards from the Macbook it was all reassembled to find the dead parts. After using my computer on just the power adapter for a few days while waiting on the new battery (the magsafe port came before the battery) I discovered that not only was the battery not charging, but it was draining rapidly. So some background, while using the computer on the adapter I experienced numerous shut downs all variating in time, with the computer sometimes remaining on for hours at a time, and at other times just seconds. I am no stranger to my macbook, repairing them for business, so I was upset at the fact that I could not solve this problem on my own. I have been using the laptop with the battery that arrived today while it has been plugged into the ac adapter. The dropdown menu of the battery icon states "battery is not charging Power source: Power Adapter" but the battery is still draining going from 65% to 33% in under an hour of plugged in usage. The adapter faces backwards to ensure it is in battery bypass mode, but it is still draining. I don't know what to do I need my laptop and dont have the money to buy another computer with the same abilities as this.
