Screen pixelated and dim after replacing the battery

So I wanted to replace the battery in my phone since I had to open it up anyways. I followed the guide on this site. Everything went fine until I booted the phone back up. Now everything on the screen has a sharp edge to it and it is very dim. Almost like a reddish tint to it. Please tell me this is fixable without buying a new display? I have tried everything I can think of.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Display data cable/socket damage, you're lucky if you just need a new display.

What could I have done to cause this? A new display is my only other option? Or are you saying fixing this is going to cost more than the phone is worth?
